i skimmed through the o'reilly javascript book and i found it well written. its a reference book though. btw, noone uses any of the object oriented stuff. only part of javascript anyone uses is stuff for validating screens and making things more dynamic(changing colors of fields or buttons when your mouse goes over it). so you only need to learn a little bit of it. The syntax is very similiar to JAVA, with some short cut C elements. I have a little trouble with it when i see an example with one of the C short cuts that is too terse to really follow.
