anyone use streams to implement auditing?

Not talking about re-writing the oracle auditing features. This goes beyond what that gives you. We need to do auditing for accounting purposes on a high transaction system. says in the docs streams could be used for this? Anyone try it? What did you think? How does it perform? How is the time to develop? There is a little blurb on it in Connor McDonalds PL/SQL book in the chapter on triggers also.
