You've got it. Windows by a wide margin, Linux and Mac in very rare cases...

Trust me: I use a Mac laptop and it can be a *very* difficult life at times...

Best telnet client I've ever used is Van Dyke's "SecureCRT", but it costs. PuTTY is free. Exceed and Hummingbird are junk; I don't easily forgive a telnet client that blue-screens my Windows workstation (even once)...

Most UNIX clients have Xwindows, but having VNC on your database server for Xwindows use provides universal look-and-feel on all clients, in addition t= o
all the other wonderful things about VNC (i.e. disconnect/reconnect client, etc). Biggest drawback to VNC is that it is very "chatty" and therefore slow as molasses on a slow network connection.

If you don't mind paying, SecureCRT from www.vandyke.com is excellent. If you're looking for free software, then PuTTY is pretty universal. Using th= e
default Microsoft "telnet" client is just a horrible way to die...
