Didn't mention a lot that I have and use very frequently... but the 101 is what I was given early on and the one that is absconded with most often off of my shelf, and what I have seen on the bookshelf of others who are very new to learning...

April, you forgot to mention the collected works of Larry Wall, Tom Christiansen, Randall Schwartz and Damian Conway, published in so called "camel series". That should anybody busy for a while. I know that Jared, Cary and Rich Jesse have read them.
