Rman, which is now included with Oracle, can do cold backups too. It is the preferred backup tool so maybe that is why they don't include a script. Ruth

Subject: Oracle-provided cold backup script

List - Kind of a dumb question, but Oracle used to include a cold backup script with each release. It used dbshut and dbstart to start and stop the database and queried the database to get a list of data files. Does that strike a memory with anyone? I'm just having a brain stall. Thanks.
