Your're right though you actually have to type the command in sqlplus. = He had selected the wrong tables in the wrong schema and punched the = button. Sometimes with ease comes risk. At the time, I wasn't worried = about it all because I had seen the backup for the development database = on the schedule so I just asked the DBA to restore it and he explained = to me that just because something was scheduled didn't mean it was being = done...ever. Having a schedule listing all of the required events is = almost as good as actually doing them I understand.

Are you going to disable it in SQL*Plus? It sounds like your developers have some rights that they shouldn't have.

I like Toad but you have to be careful. One of our developers used a = =3D3D
trial version to truncate a number of very important tables in =3D3D development that weren't backed up on the exact day I submitted the = =3D3D
purchase order for 20 seats to management. We never got Toad. However, =3D3D after much research I was able to find that you can disable that button =3D3D in the config file.=3D3D20

Venu,

Just keep in mind that if the developers have the rights to change any of the data in production, they will be able to do it directly via TOAD. TOAD makes it even easier to make data changes, without SQL.
