...and on the off chance that your sys admins avoid the chance for an on-site walk by hacker to set uid quickly by relocating the true command used to do this from its normal location, leaving a reporting, somewhat emasculated version it its place, you'll need to consult with them to get the command actually run effectively even from root. Most sys admins are pretty good about not leaving root windows up while AFK, but the best ones know that sooner or later they will leave one up (Wow! look at the bald eagle soaring over the parking lot!), so a few critical commands are stashed in non-obvious locations.

Well you should be running "root.sh" as user root, as the name suggests. Nobody else has enough privilege to make setuid executables.
