Dear Sirs,

You will find, especially on this list, that you might attempting to extract a rule from an aggregate statistic. Do not do this if you do not *know* how to measure the details. It is much worse than someone suggesting that count(*) or count(1) is faster.

Please, figure out what is CTD, too.

Instead of wasting time, bandwith, effort in pursuit of the subject on this email, you *must* immediately purchase, obtain, or access a copy of Optimizing Oracle Performance by Millsap and Holt. And, read it. ;-)

HTH. Much humor was apparently missed
between-the-lines on these replies. Oh well.

Regards,

Mike Thomas

BTW: The 'C' in CTD is not curiousity, but it could be. :-)
