A standby site, unless the licensing has changed receintly, must be licensed if it is applying the logs (you could just store the logs on disk I suppose, recreate the standby once a month or so and maybe you would be safe there). This is because, for all practical purposes, the database is running.... it's just applying redo in a constant recovery mode. If that approach to licensing is reasonable and right is another question.

Guys,

Our rep. says that Oracle considers "active" to be updating a standby = database with logs on a regular basis. Whereas, I consider it to be the
=

database being used by end-users for some business requirement. What is
=

everyone's experience with licensing a DR site????

In this article it states Oracle does not charge for backup database = server unless it is used over 10 days a year.
