As long as you have large files enabled you can go much bigger. Certain Oracle files had 2 gig limits prior to 9i (it could have been 8i but I skipped this release) but these been lifted. There used to be a 2 gig limit on .dmp files in oracle but this is gone. I just tested it exp and I have been using rman backpieces much bigger than 2 gig since we started on 9i.

Ruth

Subject: Max datafile size in AIX5.2L

Hi All,
The env. is oracle 9.2.0.4 & AIX 5.2L (64 bit)

What is the safe limit for maximum datafile size ? I see lot of articles about 2GB limitation.

Any advise would be greatly helpful.

Thanks.
Prem.
