Yeah.. It's pretty hoaky.. I would've just done it in perl except that there is little acceptance of that language here. I wrote it take, semi, make a point to them that, though they resist perl and claim that it's un-readable.. I can make shell scripts just as un-readable. 8D

So their excuse doesn't exactly hold any ground with me.. The right tool for the right job, you know.

The alternative was that processes stack up, because the right side of a fifo failed and the left side wasn't aware.. Or vice-versa. (Compressed exports)
