Because of what are mainly RDBMS architectural differences, SAP recommends frequent reorgs, and even offers programs to do so, for their DB2 implementations. When I was a db2/Oracle database consultant for a major oil company, the manager of the group read a document by SAP and IBM recommending frequent reorgs. Because of that fact, to this day, my comrades at this company spend one full weekend a month reorging the Oracle implementations of SAP, even though, in fact, the vendor does not specifically recommend it for Oracle, nor do they measure to determine if they receive any gains from the exercise.

I think this falls amound the category of "urban legend" - that a Reorg of all tablespaces will actually help SAP Oracle performance has never been proved.
