Hi

I have two servers where the unix user / login id tallies across the two /etc/passwd files;
However when i do a tar -cvf followed by tar -xvfo it does reassign the login names;
I did as root account. Env is Solaris 5.6/5.7/5.8

cpio has -R id option but that too did not help.

Thanks

GovindanK
