Consulting rates are where the real mess there exists as the placements pimps and firms have picked the market dry such that rates are being offered as low as $30-35 an hour. I had to laugh at the sitation, but it is'nt funny. I attribute that to the number of IT folks that are out of work there and when that many are desperate, it is easy to take advantage. Placement firms and the pimps are still billing out at around $75-100 an hour and pocketing all they can. Based on your networking and abilities and level of desperation, the range is between 30 and 60, with 45-55 being the average. Keep in mind Dallas used to be very strong in terms of openings and compensations, with salaries between 75-110 being the norm and rates slightly below 100 an hour. This is in terms of a 5-8 year general DBA type... ymmv, but this is what I saw... - David > Would you mind sharing with us what is the range of salaries and rates > currently in Texas, particularly in Dallas area, say for an DBA with 5-8 > year experience? > > Thanks. > > Guang > >> -----Original Message----- >> Subject: RE: Future DBA job outlook >> >> Starting salaries for a JR DBA in Houston? >> Surely, you jest... >> >> I just moved from Dallas to San Diego and I'm quite familiar with the >> salaries and rates currently in Texas. >> - David >> > >> >> Houston, TX >> >> Subject: RE: Future DBA job outlook >> >> "According to Robert Half International, starting salaries in 2003 >> >> ranged from $69,750 to $101,750 for database administrators." > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@freelists.org > put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. > -- > Archives are at http://www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ > FAQ is at http://www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@freelists.org put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at http://www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at http://www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
