06:24:20 LNW>ALTER SESSION SET
SORT_AREA_SIZE =3147483647;
ERROR: ORA-00068: invalid value 3147483647 for parameter sort_area_size, must be
between 0 and 2147483647

Opened a TAR and OS said it was
OS dependent. I asked what limit was and he said he didn't have that info,

NL> Doesn't the error message tell you that it is 2gb?

BUT, if I re-started DB the problem should go away... I was hoping for a more concrete answer.

NL> I'd be hoping for a correct one as well. How restarting the database would change an os dependent limit is beyond me (unless I suppose you shut it down - moved to to another os in the manner of your choosing - and then restarted it)
