Yes, it is. Most programmers (especially VB/.Net types) have at most a simple understanding of things like a "simplified SELECT". And never forget that if you only know how to use a hammer, all the world looks like a nail to you ...

And of, course, more job security in that allows for more complex (or spaghetti-like if talking about VB) code.
