Hi,

32Bit linux runs on 32bit hardware, like Xeon,P4 and AMD 32bit CPU server. And it support 32bit oracle.     64Bit Linux runs on 64bit hardware, like Itanium2, AMD 64Bit series. And it support 64BIT oracle.     The key difference is the 32bit-64bit memory limitation. 32bit instance support 1.7G sga while 64bit has virtually no limit.     If you system requires BIG SGA, then go to 64Bit. It is said that 64Bit X64 and 64Bit Itanium server are very fast.

Zhu Chao.

  All those using Linux,

Does anyone have any insights into using 32 v 64 bit linux for a production platform? Generally that has been a question largely resolved by the SAs I have worked with and don't have very strong arguments either way. Anyone aware of any white papers, etc?
