There is a note in the Miscellaneous section on my website about Cache Size. I wrote it in Feb 1999, so it is out of date - but I think there are a couple of points in it that might still be worthy of consideration.

What are the pros and cons of setting a high value for db_cache_size if you have the physical memory to do so?
Will it cause significant overhead? Are there other issues I should look out for?
