I've tested that, it works well enough.
Real use would dictate performance testing.

It also adds a layer to your oracle infrastructure.

Hi Adam...

  I think you need EE to get the Advanced Security option... Not 100% sure though... Have you looked in forcing oracle to use and ssh connection? I haven't done it myself but here's an older link about this...
