Actually, it is, but we're talking about different kinds of diplomacy here. As a development DBA, I have to communicate with developers. In other words, my clients are computer geeks, and they are the crowd that I mingle with and target my diplomacy toward. Whatever your opinion of me might be, and I do acknowledge slight possibility that you wouldn't want me for a roommate, I have almost no problems with the developers that I'm working with. As they are the people who are more essential for the company then I am, any problems on that side would result in a very quick change of my email address. Computer geeks, a subspecies of humanity to which I proudly belong, have a specific subculture that fits me like a glove. What I'm saying is that understanding and tolerance are golden. Some people that we find obnoxious and rude might, actually be quite rational and useful when we get to know them. If you want to be a DBA, then you'll have to get used to people like me. What is more, you'll have to know the answer to th question of life, universe and everything and the air velocity of an unladen swallow as well as the color of database which takes the least amount of memory. Now, go bravely on your way, sir Galahad. Speaking of diplomacy, I doubt that it is in your job description, either.
