Now that it's mentioned, the original poster never gave us the version and patch level. Mr. Lee???

We've seen and fixed numerous such bugs in 8i with patches and the like.




I've seen this happen on windows with 817 - Oracle seemed to decide it need= ed to extend the datafile for temp, rather than reusing space that was avai= lable within it. My memory is that this was a bug and that it was fixed in = 8174, but my memory unfortunately isn't what it once
was.=20
