This makes sense except for the fact that I've applied logs for about 4 hours worth of data AFTER the online backups. The dates on the last system change numbers applied are substantially after the end of the online backup completion.

Try going back to the original, do a couple of log switches, then grab the
archived logs and copy them over. The online redo files on the original are
at whatever system change number the copied database is looking for.
