I've done some reading in Robert's book, and I think I can address the matter. It isn't that sqlplus will go away. It's that Oracle will continue to hire Visual Basic programmers to continue to "enhance" sqlplus with package/procedure calls that are so insane and arbitrary that you will WANT sqlplus to go away. I wish, if Oracle is going to do this, they would at least restrict their hiring to old Motif programmers.
