Paul,

I heard Gaja mention that a site had a 4 GB shared pool, for which "SELECT sysdate FROM dual;" took 15 minutes to execute. That was back at IOUG-A 2001.

But this is secondhand info at best.

If a huge shared pool caused oracle to _run_faster wouldn't all the TPC-C runs have huge shared pools?
