Thanks JARED,DAVID,LISA,JANUSZ,
For your replies.I myself have worked on Veritas before and dont like CA products they I dont know why doesnt seem to like me unlike Veritas. But you know the CTO's who passed out when IBM and Digital only made servers and learned only to punch cards and didnt bother to upgrade themselves I guess I am unfortunate enough to be working under one now and he thinks CA is THE ONLY BACKUP option rest are for kids (by kids he means WInDOZ,Linux etc) .I have compiled ur mails and sent it to him I expect some fire from him but I guess I am doing the reight thing by putting my foot down at this phase itself later they cant pass the buck to me. Deep

I will second Lisa's recommendation. We use it extensively.

Don't try to do the initial install on your own though, unless you   already have experience with it.

  Hi Deep,

I have experience with the Veritas products. Here's my two cents:

NetBackup is wonderful. It includes rman integration and runs very well   once the glitches are worked out.

We are unfortunately using BackupExec at my current employer. It fails   constantly with odd errors, does not include rman integration and   requires constant reboots. The errors were so bad that we even replaced   an entire tape library, Veritas said it was a hardware problem... guess   what, afterwards we have the same stinking problems...

Go for NetBackup if you can. You won't be sorry.
