Actually, the default is 2000 in 9.2.0.4 only if optimizer_features_enable
is set to 9.2.
Set optimizer_features_enable back to 8.1.7 and permutations will default
to 80000.

As the default value on 9.2.0.4 is already 2000, I don't think you will see much difference.

I've been talking to Oracle Support about some performance problems and they told me to set optimizer_max_permutations=2000
Has anyone tested how this effects the CBO? This is on 9.2.0.4 on Solaris.
