Ok ok,  

You actually done need a second location  

Just use ln -s to create a symbolic link from where the file is to where oracle expects it.  

And although you can only run one instance of recover tablespace <TBS #> you can run multiple instances of recover datafile <file #>  

So this is how you improve on recovery time.  

For whoever might have been interested.

Is it possible to set multiple logsource locations.

Say the default location as per the init file and a second location where you moved files?
