The only practical way to do this that I can think of at the moment would
be to have the offsite DC dump the RMAN repository for you via exp.

Import the repository, and import the tapes into the Veritas catalog.

Quite a bit of work actually. The RMAN import is easy, cataloguing the
tapes is not so simple IIRC.

Greetings,

Here is the story. We have an offsite data center that manages the backups
of our production DB using their own rman catalog and veritas direct to tape
software. We would like to make use of these backupsets and restore the
database to our own server. The goal would be to get those backupsets on
disk, at our site, and registered in our own catalog. Is this possible?

Can you take backupsets created with veritas tape software, put them on
disk, and register them in a different rman catalog?
