You could always reverse-engineer the RMAN catalog, locate the entries related to this backup, then insert that data into the new RMAN catalog. These types of issues convinced me to move to controlfile RMAN backups.

Subject: rman to tape with veritas then use with a different catalog?

Greetings,

Here is the story. We have an offsite data center that manages the backups of our production DB using their own rman catalog and veritas direct to tape software. We would like to make use of these backupsets and restore the database to our own server. The goal would be to get those backupsets on disk, at our site, and registered in our own catalog. Is this possible?

Can you take backupsets created with veritas tape software, put them on disk, and register them in a different rman catalog?
