Well, a 1G link is about 1024 times better.

I would discard the db link idea, as it would require quite a bit of extra coding for error checking, as opposed to sqlldr and imp/exp which can catch and log errors for you.

You may want to explore multiple parallel exports, along with multiple parallel imports.

This shouldn't be terribly difficult to setup.

The sqlldr route would work also, though longs/lobs would complicate that. The export/import route is probably simpler, though loading the data is not nearly as fast.

Which you choose may be determined by time constraints.

If only a few tables have long/lob columns, you may investigate a mixture of flat file unloads and exports.

Be sure to load the data without fk constraints or indexes.

For speeding up loads, try digging into the archives at fatcity.com. Kirti Deshpande had an excellent checklist of parameters and techniques used to speed up imports.

It's been in the last couple years.
