Lisa,
I think that if you get large memory support working,
not /PAE, just /3GB, you'll probably have enough
headroom. 2.7 GB for the oracle.exe will hopefully be
sufficient.
Can you set a logon trigger for your loads, to set the
hash_area_size, sort_area_size to larger values for
the loads, and have the defaults be small for all
other users?
