Standby is not an option because:

(1) additional space requirement
(2) the ETL script that is supposed to get the data as of a specific time
(which can be as much as 24 hours ago) expects that. The 5 day requirement
is merely to ensure that DW programmers have some leeway when the script fails, particularly over the weekend, especially over a long weekend, and after the recovery period from long trips.

In case you are wondering about the reason #2, they are not covered by the 24X7 policy! And God said - let there be flashback!
