Carmen

That is why I said "export/import a schema" rather than "import a database". I certainly wouldn't try to import the system schema, although technically it is "a" schema. As I understand, an Oracle schema is roughly equivalent to a SQL Server schema, so sometimes people use that terminology. That was my assumption.

What about the system schema? I know it's imported, and doesnt that affect the import target original system schema?

Thanks,
Carmen Rusu

I'm assuming that you mean you want to export/import a schema from Solaris to Linux? If so, just do it. Export/Import will take care of platform incompatibilities. When you send the export dump file to Linux,
don't forget to do a binary transfer, since export is a binary format.

Subject: export from 64 bit (Solaris) and import into 32 bit (Linux) database 9.2.0.4

Hi

I am asked to create a 32bit database on Redhat Linux(2.1) and import a

64bit database(Solaris) in it.

database version 9.2.0.4 on both machines.

I tried to locate something on Metalink but bo success. What shall be the
best way to do it?

Is somebody did it before. Any known issues or problems?

TIA, Regards
Rafiq
