I wasn't sure...I always use a level 0 on important databases.

Thanks!
Ruth

  Hi Ruth,

I think you may be able to take a level 1 backup before a   level 0. if =
you take a level 1 backup without a level 0 then RMAN would throw a =   warning ("no parent backup or copy of datafile <> found") and a backup =   would be taken as level 0. This is a behavior in 9iR2 but not sure in 8i

  Best Regards

Did you do a full backup or a level 0? If you want to do incrementals, =   you
first have to have a level 0 as a starting point. A full is not quite =   the
same. See the docs for the differences.

  HTH,
  Ruth

    Subject: Rman error

    Hi,

I am using Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 on windoze 2000 server .
While taking a backup using Rman (control files and no catalog)
    I received the following error

PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to

    			'GETINCREMENTALSCN' .
    	RMAN-06097

The full backup goes through perfectly . Only when the
incremental backup starts this error crops up .

Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this     problem.

    				Thanks and regards
    				Shreepad
