Sean,

I'm running the same using 8.1.7. Because the expectations of OFS are so basic, your tests are also basic.

Try the obvious:

1). Simply shut the database down manually and make sure that OFS restarts it. This test Oracle crashes and database restarts - something that you don't get in non-clustered systems by-the-way. 2). Issue a "lsnrctl stop" and watch as OFS restarts it - another bouns you don't get on non-clustered machines.
3). Change the init.ora file - place an invalid param in there. My favorite is "toms_crash=yes". Shut the database down. Watch as OFS tries to restart the database. And then watch it fail over to the other machine. This only works if you have two Oracle homes - one for each machine. 4). The big obvious one - shut down the primary machine and watch OFS bring the db up on the backup server.

I've been running OFS for 3 years now and it's not even a minor worry.

Good Luck!

Subject: Cluster testing

Hi Folks,

We're implementing Oracle 9i on MSCS with OFS, W2K, Compaq hardware (including SAN), Cisco swtiches. We've a well known ERP software using = the
9i database. Anyways I was wondering if anyone could provide feedback/advice on what tests we should take the cluster config through = to
prove it does what it says on the box so-to-speak =3D:-0

References to papers or ideally maybe a checklist you have used, or = would
use if you were implementing clustering ;) would be much appreciated.
