Question regarding roles

I've got a bell in the back of my mind saying this was answered here at some stage, but for the life of me I can't locate it.

How does one find which roles are active in any given user session?

Been through the usual v$ stuff and can't find anything to help. The X$* is too volatile for me to rely on. Ah, yes: 9ir2.
