Well, it is implemente in pure PL/SQL with lots of loops. If you want fast regex, use Perl.

And, yes of course, 10g. Coming to a desktop near you sometime in the 21st century.

I think Jonathan already commented on that, but I would have to add = =3D3D
that
OWA_PATTERN is horribly slow.
I wrote a package generator (generates files using UTL_FILE) using = =3D3D
patterns,
and I have to say, compared=3D3D20
to Perl regex, it's pure pain.
