Simply the fact that OFA uses ../bdump, ../cdump../udump for various = trace files and that is how Oracle is installed by default and that is = what you will find in most other sites. I go with what the majority do = because sooner or later I might be working somewhere else and I don't = want to make it more difficult then I have to. =20

Subject: OFA - dump destinations

We are currently working installing a 9i db on a new box. The senior dba wants to put all trace files into one directory on = $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log.
I've suggested that this is not the best practice prescribed by OFA. = Does
anyone see any major issues with keeping all trace files in one = directory?=20

Thanks,

Mark
