There's a new-ish RAC/Linux install guide on OTN: http://otn.oracle.com/tech/linux/pdf/RAC_1030.pdf Interestingly enough the guide specifically shows *not* to alias "localhost" at all (page 9). Hmmm...

Before now, I've not heard of setting localhosts to the real IP address.

I've only seen it aliased to loopback ( 127.0.0.1 ). Why would you do otherwise?
