On the subject of export/import, has anyone exported a 1 TB db and imported it into another db? The largest I have done is 300gb w/out problems.

"imp" doesn't lock the import file, unless the import file was produced
by simultaneous export into the same file from two different instances,

in which case you have something what is scientifically known as "monster mess" and is really appropriate for the Halloween time.
