This is something I'm struggling with. I want to run Oracle on my lab systems, but I can't really afford to part with the $1500 or so that RH Enterprise costs. Oracle nicely makes their software free for learning, etc. Red Hat, unfortunately, does not.
I think Red Hat's strategy makes a certain amount of sense though. They've identified a niche that will pay handsomely, compared to what your average consumer will pay, for Linux. Why not focus on that market?
