Hi,

Oracle 9.2.0.3
AIX 5L Anyone out there suffered serious performance issues with sorts to disk on this platform. we are using GPFS filesystems. The same query took about 16 minutes on a 8.1.7 database running on a small Tru/64 machine, the query on the p650/9.2.0.3 machine took over 6 hours for a smaller data-set. Obviously by doing sorting to memory we have reduced the time significantly but we really would like to get this performing as the 8i system. Our data will be of a size that some sorting to disk will be inevitable in the future and we cannot live with the performance as it is. I have raised a call with Oracle but as usual, the good people on this list invariably come up with some useful hints/solutions in the meantime.

Regards

Lee
