Re: Database just stops

So, what happens when you try to connect internal? I haven't worked with 8.1.7 database for eternity (since 8/4/03) but I believe that syntax is something like: svrmgrl <CR>
connect internal <CR>

Furthermore, did you notice existence of beautiful files named something like *SMON*.TRC or *PMON*.TRC (same for LGWR, DBWR and CKPT)?
What is the last entry in alert.log and are looking into the right one?
