SQL Loader help

I know that there are several sql loader gurus on this list. I'm having a problem loading data from a third party vendor..... into what is basically a LONG column

The file is ASCII, tab delimited. The specs on the input data say that this particular column is a "memo" field (the originating database is FoxPro.. joy)

I'm trying to load this into a 9.2.0.2 database. And it's barfing. This is annoying me no end and so I'm asking for help. I don't have Jonathan's book here with me! (that would, of course, be easy)
