1) run imp command
2) reboot the server (NT/Win2k?)
3) check database and find it is not open

The reboot closed the database (and probably not gracefully). When the server restarted, the service may have started, but the database was not opened. I know there are registry settings to control this, but I don't know them off the top of my head. I am sure someone on the list can provide them.

The bottom line...imp did not close the database, the server reboot did.
