Hi!

I believe that you can allocate more virtual memory to Oracle than you got physical. Never cared enough to try, though. There's a init.ora parameter LOCK_SGA, if you set it to true, then Oracle tries to hard lock all pages to physical memory, in that case you would probably get error on startup.
