9iAS is not a requirement of OID. We didn't have it in our replicated OID test and the Oracle sales peoples assured us that the licensing of OID could be separated from 9iAS.

Of course, the crashes and imcompatibilites with existing LDAP, etc. told us to run away to SunOne and leave our DB to ONAMES...
