RBO was the optimizer as far back as I can remember and that was V3.

did oracle always use the RBO? or did it have some extremely simplified optimizer prior to 6.0?

i know some of you haev been around a while... hopefully this doesnt make you feel old. no real need to know. just curious how the technology has progressed over time.
