Set the Compatiable Parameter to the Actual Version you Upgraded and not to any patch rel that was rel later on.

Oh-My-Gosh.

Worry free? I just upgraded another 8.1.7.4 database to 9.2. When I set the COMPATIBLE parm to 9.0.2 (or 9.2, which would make sense) I get really messy errors:

ORA-00402: database changes by release 9.0.1.3.0 cannot be used by release 135294976

ORA-01571: redo version 9.0.2.0.0 incompatible with ORACLE version 8.1.7.0.0

So then I tried to set it back to 8.1.7, or comment out COMPATIBLE altogether, and I get the same type of error. It won't open at all.

I tried initiating recovery. This database is in noarc mode. It starts looking for arclogs that *do not* exist. I also tried to drop the redo log groups and recreate them. Still, no dice.

Again, unbreakable my FUNDAMENT.

So has anyone seen this before? I opened a tar yesterday and promptly confused support.

Lisa

"Trade SQL Server for Oracle9i Database and get up to 100% license credit
and peace of mind.

Tired of applying patches? Frustrated with managing mulitple database servers?
In the time it takes you to apply all Microsoft's patches to your servers,
you can successfully migrate your database to Oracle9i Database and be worry-free. "

I don't understand PR of Oracle. The RDBMS has so much properties which are
much more better implemented in Oracle than in MS SQL and they choose 'patching' which *** on both servers.
