Interesting..... didnt know that the FBI was doing this. The clearances I am speaking of deal with military agencies and federal government intelligence agencies. I have never heard of expedited clearances, but that doesnt mean there isnt such a thing. The normal process involved through these agencies is to get a secret clearance and then proceed upward from there. The secret clearance may take a shorter period of time, but once you acquire it, you still may not be able to get access to information you need to do your job. If you need something higher than that, it is still my understanding you are looking at 2 years.

If a company REALLY wants you, they can ask for an expedited security clearance, which only takes a couple of weeks. However, that is more likely to be the case when you are already working for the company and they simply want you to be assigned to another job that requires a clearance. Also, the fact that you previously had a clearance will help. The feds will not re-contact all the contacts from the prior part of your life that they already investigated. Mostly, they will concentrate on contacts since the clearance expired.

BTW, I have been a contact for one friend who got a clearance, and had a really interesting interview with an FBI agent. I'm now scheduled for an interview for another friend, who is getting an expedited clearance. In the first case, it was actually a few months from the time my friend told me she gave them my name to the time I was contacted. In the second case, it was two days.

List,
There are a lot of prime job openings that I am interested but they require a Security Clearance. If I have a job that provided the security clearance I am all set....But if I do not need one now and do not have one now, How do I get one to be able to apply for the job opening? I have had a T-S Crypto clearance in the past but it has expired and I would like to get a clearance reinstated again. What steps are required for an individual to get a clearance but not currently have a job that requires it?

It sounds like catch-22 to me . You need the clearance to get the job but need the job to get the clearance. Ron
